Item:123507895150This is a unique Japanese kiseru from the late Meiji Era (c. 1900). This kiseru is made of two separated bronze and silver ends with a central section of aged bamboo. Both the mouth piece, as well as, the bowl end are made of a brass or bronze alloy and silver. The mouthpiece is carved with a design of bamboo leaves (see pictures 10 and 11). The kiseru has an aged patina from over a century of loving use. The last picture shows a wood block print from the early 1800's of a geisha holding a kiseru similar to this one. This nearly 120 year old antique kiseru measures 7 3/4" (19.7 cm). A truly unique vintage kiseru. It has been well used yet well loved and, along with its warm aged patina, it remains in very good (functional) condition.
